Private tutor in Bethesda, MD
B.A. Georgetown University, 2013 (Mathematics & Psychology) Ed.M. Harvard University Graduate School of Education, 2014 (Learning & Teaching)
Hi! I'm Sam. I graduated from Georgetown University in 2013 with my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Psychology. Straight after my undergraduate studies, I went to the Harvard University Graduate School of Education where I received my Master's of Education in Learning and Teaching in 2014. I currently teach 6th grade math and science in addition to tutoring and coaching. My favorite part of teaching and tutoring when I get to help a student have that "lightbulb moment" when a concept finally starts to click and make sense. It is the greatest reward as an educator to see your student light up when they understand a difficult concept or problem. Every student has their own learning needs and goals. I enjoy discovering methods and creating plans to help my students have their own "lightbulb moments." I have taught or tutored math students ranging in age from 4th grade through 11th grade. The subjects taught/tutored include elementary math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Statistics. I have also tutored students in preparation for high school (SSAT, HSPT) and college (SAT, ACT) entrance exams. Finally, I have tutored a number of students towards completing their GED. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I am easy to get ahold of and respond quickly.
